Meet Johanna, The Roving Shield Maiden
Since times of antiquity and continuing to this day, various forms of professional bodywork have been utilized to provide relief and enhance the wellbeing of those who receive it. At Roving Shield Wellness, we combine traditional wisdom with modern methodology to consistently deliver results that our clients can feel right away and have a lasting positive impact on their physical, mental and spiritual state.
Our name is a tribute by our founder, Johanna Gorton, to the roving shieldmaidens of ancient Nordic culture who were female protectors of the world – with whom she has come to closely identify with through extensive travel and research. This empowering spirit is at the heart of every one of the services we offer. The Nordic concepts of ‘hygge’ (loosely translating to ‘cozy’) and lagom (loosely translating to ‘just right’) are integral aspects of our comfortable and personalized approach.
